Legal contacts
KeyUp is made by an independent developer in Pennsylvania, United States. This page lists where to send each kind of request so it reaches the right place quickly. Please write in English, the language we read and answer in.
For people who use KeyUp
- Help with the app or your account: [email protected], or the Help Center.
- Report a person or a message: use Report in the app (it sends us the evidence), or email [email protected].
- Threats, self-harm or child safety: [email protected]. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911 or your local emergency number first.
- An intimate image shared without consent: the takedown page (no account needed). We remove it, and copies we find, within 48 hours. Someone you trust, such as a parent, lawyer or support worker, can ask on your behalf.
- Appeal a decision about your account or content: [email protected] with “Appeal” in the subject. A person reviews every appeal. See Content rules and moderation.
- Privacy, your data and data requests: [email protected]. The person responsible for privacy is KeyUp’s founder. See the Privacy Policy.
- Security issues: see our Security policy.
For authorities and regulators
Government authorities, regulators and courts (including EU Member State authorities, the European Commission and the European Board for Digital Services) can reach our single point of contact at [email protected] with “Authority request” in the subject. Please include your authority, the legal basis for the request, and a reply address.
For law enforcement
- Send requests for user data to [email protected] from an official address. We need valid US legal process (such as a subpoena, court order or warrant) to disclose user data. Requests from outside the US should come through a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty or another process valid in the US.
- Emergencies: if there’s a risk of death or serious physical injury, put “Emergency” in the subject and describe the emergency. We may share information without legal process when the law allows it.
- Preservation: we can preserve specific records for 90 days while you get legal process.
- Much of KeyUp is never stored: live voice isn’t kept unless a room has Rewind on and the speaker agreed, and private calls are end-to-end encrypted, so we can’t hear or provide them. See the Privacy Policy for what we keep and for how long.
- Unless the law or a court order forbids it, we tell people about requests for their data before we disclose it.
Child safety
KeyUp has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. Child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming and sexualizing minors are banned everywhere on KeyUp. When we find or are told about CSAM, we:
- remove it and close the account;
- report it to the US National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline, which shares reports with law enforcement around the world;
- keep the reported material and account details securely for one year, as US law requires, for law enforcement.
Accounts for people aged 13 to 17 have extra protections, and Spaces marked Adults only (18+) are closed to them. To report a concern, use Report in the app or email [email protected]. You can also report directly to NCMEC at report.cybertip.org.
Copyright
If you think something on KeyUp infringes your copyright, email [email protected] with the work, where it appears on KeyUp, your contact details, and a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn’t authorized.
Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to use KeyUp, including people who are blind, deaf or hard of hearing, or have limited movement. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA on this website and in the web app.
- Talk sounds and a buzz tell you when you’re live, so you don’t need to look at the screen.
- You can talk with one big button, a crown turn on the watch, or open mic with voice detection. Room chat and optional transcripts help people who can’t hear well.
- Some parts may still fall short. We fix them as we find them.
If something is hard to use, email [email protected] with “Accessibility” in the subject. Tell us the page or screen and what happened, and we’ll help and fix it.
