Delete your KeyUp account

You can delete your KeyUp account at any time. The quickest way is inside the app. If you no longer have the app or can’t sign in, email us and we’ll do it for you.

Delete your account in the app

1. Open KeyUp on your phone and go to You.
2. Under Account, tap Delete account. On a guest pass, it says Delete guest pass.
3. Read Delete your account?, type your password under Enter your password to confirm, and tap Delete permanently. Guest passes don’t need a password.

Your account is deleted right away, and you’re signed out on all your devices, including your watch. This can’t be undone. Want a copy first? Download your data before you delete. More help: Delete your account.

Ask us to delete it (no app needed)

1. Email [email protected] with the subject Delete my KeyUp account.
2. Include your KeyUp username. If you added an email address to your account, send the request from that address.
3. We may ask you to confirm it’s really you before we delete anything, so nobody can delete someone else’s account.

We delete your account within 30 days of confirming your request, and we email you when it’s done.

What gets deleted

• Your account: username, display name, password, email address and profile picture.
• Your phones, watches and browsers, their sign-ins and push notification tokens.
• Your room and Space memberships, friends, blocks and notification settings.
• Your direct message conversations, and the pictures and voice notes you sent.
• Your rewind voice clips and transcripts of what you said.
• Your private AI assistant notes and AI settings, and invitations you created.
• Your consent choices for rewind and transcripts.

What may be kept, and for how long

• Messages you sent in rooms are emptied and no longer show your name. A blank “deleted” marker stays so other people’s replies still make sense.
• Spaces you own go to another adult member, or are deleted if nobody else is in them.
• Calls you received can stay in the caller’s call history, with the time and length but without your account. Calls you started are deleted.
• Security and consent records (for example that an account was deleted, or that rewind was turned on) are kept without your name, audio or text, to keep KeyUp safe and show we followed your choices.
• Problem reports you chose to send are kept for up to 90 days, then deleted.
• Backups: copies in our backups are deleted within a further 30 days as the backups roll over.
• We may keep a small amount of information longer if the law requires it, or to prevent fraud and abuse.

Signed up for the beta or sent feedback on this website? That’s kept separately from your account. Ask us at [email protected] and we’ll delete it too.

Timeline
