Why we ask your birth year

KeyUp asks the year you were born once, to follow age rules. We don’t keep the year.

What it is

When you create an account, KeyUp asks What year were you born? We use it once to check the age rules, then throw the year away. Your account only keeps whether you’re an adult (18 or older) or a teen (13 to 17).

When to use it

You’ll see the question when you create an account, when you turn a guest pass into an account, and once on older accounts the first time you start a Space or hand one over.

How to do it

  1. Type the four digits of the year you were born in What year were you born?, then continue.

  2. Joining with a guest pass? You don’t give a year. Tick I’m 13 or older before you tap Join.

  3. Made your account before we asked? The first time you create a Space or hand one over, KeyUp shows Confirm your birth year once, then carries on with what you were doing.
