How Radio Bridge behaves in a room (beta)

What people in the room see and hear while the radio transmits, receives, or is busy.

What it is

Once a bridge is running, the radio shows up in the room like a person, with a radio icon. This article explains what happens as people talk on each side.

When to use it

Read this if you want to know what a bridged room looks and sounds like day to day, or you’re seeing tags like “Radio busy” and want to know why.

How to do it

  1. The radio bridge appears in the room’s people list with a radio icon and the label “Radio bridge”. When someone talks in KeyUp, the gateway keys the radio and transmits, then unkeys after the bridge’s hang time.

  2. Each transmission is capped by the bridge’s transmit limit. If someone talks longer than that, the gateway unkeys the radio automatically and the bridge shows “Hit time limit”.

  3. When the radio receives, people in the room hear it and see “<bridge name> is talking”. While the radio is receiving, what people say in KeyUp is not sent to the radio, shown as “Radio busy”.

  4. In the dispatch console, the bridge’s status pill shows what it’s doing right now: “Online”, “Offline”, “Turned off”, “Transmitting to radio”, “Receiving from radio”, “Radio busy” or “Hit time limit”, along with the room it’s connected to and when it was last active.
