First-time setup

Right after you sign up, KeyUp takes 30 seconds to get you talking: the microphone, Hold or Tap, and a test only you hear.

What it is

The first time you sign in on a phone or watch, KeyUp shows a short setup. It’s four quick steps, and you can skip any of them, or all of it.

When to use it

It shows once, right after you create an account or first sign in on a new phone or watch. People who already used KeyUp on that device don’t see it.

How to do it

  1. Allow the microphone. People hear you only while you talk. If Android doesn’t allow it, tap Open settings and turn on Microphone for KeyUp.

  2. How do you want to talk? Hold to talk: hold the button while you talk and let go to stop. Tap to talk: tap once to talk and again to stop. You can change it in any room.

  3. Try it. Hold (or tap) the button and say hello. The meter moves and KeyUp says We heard you. Only you hear this: nothing is sent to your room.

    A test only you hear.
  4. You’re all set. Tap Go to #room to land in your room.

  5. On the watch the steps are: the microphone, How you talk on the watch (Crown, Raise to talk or Tap only), a test with a crown turn or the button, then your room.

    Setup on the watch.
