Sounds: pick, preview or turn off every sound

One place for every sound KeyUp makes: talk sounds, chimes when people join or leave, messages and calls. Hear each one first.

What it is

KeyUp can play a short chime when someone joins the room you’re in (rising) and when they leave (falling), and another pair when a friend comes online (three notes up) or goes offline (three notes down). You › Sound › Sounds lists these next to every other KeyUp sound, so you can hear each one, pick a style and a volume, or turn it off.

When to use it

Use it when KeyUp is too chatty, too quiet, or you want to know who just walked into the room without looking.

How to do it

  1. Go to You › Sound › Sounds.

    Open Sounds.

  2. Every sound has a play button. Tap it to hear the sound, even while it’s turned off. A new preview stops the one that’s playing.

    Hear it, then pick it.

  3. When you talk: your start and stop sounds (Chirp, Click or Beep), their volume, and Talk vibration.

  4. When someone else talks: a sound when someone starts (Soft, Blip or Low), a roger beep when they stop (Roger or Tick), the Second room chirp, and a buzz.

  5. People in your room: Someone joins and Someone leaves are on at first. Pick Marimba, Glass or Soft. A style’s play button plays the join and the leave chime.

  6. Friends: A friend comes online and A friend goes offline are off at first, so a busy friends list doesn’t chime all day. Pick Chime, Pluck or Hum.

  7. Messages and Calls: turn off the sound of message notifications, friend requests and invitations, the Ringtone, the Missed call sound or the Call waiting beep. With a sound off the notification or call still shows, just silently. To use a different sound, tap Pick another notification sound or Pick another ringtone.

  8. On the watch, swipe up and tap Talk sounds and vibration. Under People turn the chimes on or off, and tap a style to pick it and hear it.
