Try the next talk screen

Test the version 64 design preview in your browser and tell us what feels clear or confusing.

What it is

The new talk-screen preview has one room picker, your crew, one talk button and Quiet. It uses fictional Riverside Crew data. It never asks for microphone access or sends a message.

When to use it

Use it to try the proposed layout before it comes to the Android and watch apps. The installed app still uses its current layout.

How to do it

  1. Open Try KeyUp. Hold the big button, then let go. Its color and words show when the simulated mic is on or off. Try Tap and Open mic too.

  2. Tap the room name to switch rooms. Tap a star to save a favorite for this visit. Switching rooms ends a simulated talk.

  3. Open Quiet. Try a room mute, muting sound on this phone, Do not disturb, or Off in this room. Each explains what still comes through.

  4. Use Sam starts talking to simulate a busy room. In Open mic, turn it on and use Simulate your voice. The real microphone is never used.

  5. Tell the person who invited you to test whether the mic state, room switching and Quiet choices were clear. Mention anything that surprised you.
