Delete messages after

Have a direct chat delete its messages automatically after 30, 60 or 90 days.

What it is

In a direct chat, either person can have messages deleted automatically after 30 days, 60 days or 90 days. It applies to both of you, with the photos, voice notes and reactions. It’s Off by default.

When to use it

Use it when you don’t want a chat to keep its history.

How to do it

  1. Phone: open the direct chat, tap the three dots (Conversation options) and choose Delete messages after.

  2. Pick Off, 30 days, 60 days or 90 days. The top of the chat then says, for example, Messages here are deleted after 30 days.

  3. Watch: in a direct chat, tap the Delete messages after chip. Web and iPhone: tap Chat options (three dots) in the chat’s header, then Delete messages after.
